Fenton was originally established in 1834 and was named “Dibbleville” by Clark Dibble, one of the town’s first settlers. In 1863, the settlement was incorporated as a village and named Fenton, after William M. Fenton, who was the state’s governor at the time.

Today, Fenton is home to some of the tastiest restaurants in Genesee County – including The Laundry, the Fenton Fire Hall, and Sagebrush Cantina. Other popular restaurants in the area include Lucky’s Steak House, Beale Street Smokehouse BBQ, La Marsa, and the Fenton Hotel.

Fenton’s bustling downtown area is family friendly with plenty of things to do. Whether you’re grabbing a bite to eat, window shopping, or looking for some peace and quiet at the beautiful Mill Pond, Fenton has it all.

Fenton is home to many gorgeous public parks. These public parks include Bush Park, the Mill Pond, Silver Lake Park, and the Dauner Martin Nature Sanctuary where you can stroll though over 155 acres of nature on well-kept trails.

Fenton is also home to the AJ Phillips Museum, which is located in the downtown area of Leroy street.
